We at Futuready bring to you the latest round-up of what’s up and new in the world of social media.

Instagram:

Well aside of the platform turning 10 this month, Instagram introduced a host of new features but amongst all, some of its new features are interesting and absolutely brilliant. They are Stories Map and two well-being updates that enable you to hide potentially offensive comments.

The all-new feature of Stories Map stands to be a private map and calendar of the stories which you have shared in the last 3 years. The users can share, download and save these stories to highlights.

Another great feature that Instagram is introducing that will automatically hide comments similar to others that have been reported by a user. These comments can be viewed by tapping “View Hidden Comments”. Comments that violate community guidelines will continue to be removed, said Instagram.

And through the Nudge feature, Instagram will send an added warning when people repeatedly try to post comments that might be offensive.

Twitter:

Twitter has reportedly started testing a new feature that will cause its users to ponder over the articles before they tweet which they have not read. The platform started testing it in June for Android and has now decided to bring it to iOS as well. The company also says that the feature will show up on every article regardless of the content or publisher.

Facebook:

In line with Zuckerberg’s vision of assimilating its apps one or the other way, Facebook has recently announced that it is merging Instagram DMs with Facebook’s messenger platform. Essentially, users who use Messenger app will be able to reach others on Instagram without downloading a new app and vice versa.

Whatsapp:

The instant messaging platform is known to developing a multi-device feature that will enable the users to use the same account on different devices without being dependent on the main device for a couple of months.

YouTube:

Jumping into the bandwagon of social media platforms creating clones of TikTok, Google has come up with YouTube Shorts, allowing the users to make clips for a duration of 15 seconds or less with different editing options such as countdown, timer and speed control. “This is an early version of the product, but we are releasing it now to bring you our global community of users, creators and artists – on our journey with us as we build and improve Shorts”, said the company in a blog post.

Zoom:

The video-conferencing platform has now introduced the two-factor authentication login process for its users. The additional measure will require the users to give two more pieces of evidence or credentials to authenticate the ownership of the account. The evidence may be pin/password, voice/fingerprints or something the user owns like a smart card mobile device. The two factor authentication seeks to protect users from security breaches right from the platform.

That’s all folks! Watch this space for more updates on what’s new in the social media world.
